Diploma in Clinical Supervision of Counselling and Therapy
This diploma meets the needs of qualified and experienced
counsellors and psychotherapists for professional development
and advanced study. It is intended for professionally qualified
and experienced counsellors and therapists working within
a number of professional groups, such as nursing, education,
social work or psychology, as well as those practising independently
or in agency settings.
Students undertaking a diploma
in counselling are required to have supervision of their
counselling practice as soon
as they begin to see clients in practice placement. This
is also a requirement of the British
Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) for professional practice. This
course provides a qualification that enables practitioners
to
supervise both groups and individuals. Participants will
have the opportunity to deepen their theoretical understanding
and to enhance their practical skills as counsellors, therapists
and supervisors.
The course includes the theory and practice of counselling
supervision. It is distinctive in being based on an integrative
and holistic model which enables practitioners to supervise
therapists from a variety of counselling and psychotherapy
approaches. The use of creative methods for both group
and individual supervision is emphasised.
The course tutors are qualified
and experienced practitioners of counselling, psychotherapy,
hypnotherapy and supervision
with many years’ experience of lecturing and course
development. Lectures, seminars and workshops are used
to demonstrate similarities and contrasts between theoretical
approaches. Students are required to participate in the
learning process by role-play, discussion and presentation
of their own work.
