Regression Therapy

by Lesley Moyer Dip.Sach.Hyp. A.H.A. Reg. Dip.PLT&SRT G.H.R.Reg.

‘No, it isn’t a camera strap’- especially as the camera was minus it’s strap at the time of taking the photograph. However, the sight of the image on the print made the hair on the back of my neck stand up as the photographic expert and I tried to find an explanation for the strange appearance of a mass of white circles super-imposed over the subject of the photo.

I knew in my heart that I had captured something very special on film and this was called ‘vortex energy’. In all my many years of snapping I had never seen anything like this and here I was, the proud possessor of four of them. Each one showed a different stage of vortex energy building up and they were not in sequence on the actual film. These were taken a year ago on the Cherokee Reservation in North Carolina and almost one year later, I am once again looking in amazement at yet another Spirit energy photograph, taken only three weeks ago in Chateau D’Arques, Languedoc, S.W.France.

None of these photographs would have existed if it had not been for Hypnotherapy.

About five years ago I had a real need to discover my Past Lives- I had believed in reincarnation since I was fourteen- and I turned to Hypnotherapy as a means to achieve this. I went for a regression session once a month, each time discovering another of my previous existences in great detail. I kept meticulous notes of my sessions and these were eventually incorporated into a book about Spirituality. However, it didn’t take me long to realize that the next step in my own progress was to train to be a Hypnotherapist/Psychotherapist, which I felt complemented my work as a Spiritual healer and would greatly expand my own knowledge for the benefit of others. I embarked on a very comprehensive and often intensive Hypnotherapy/Psychotherapy year long course, which was excellent for providing a good grounding and comprehension of up to date techniques, however, I still felt something was missing and as I am a strong believer in what is meant to be, I came into contact with Dr.Keith Hearne and immediately signed up for his intensive tuition in Past Life Therapy, including Spirit Releasing Therapy. This was brilliant, as at last I felt this integrated my own Spiritual aspect totally and like a sponge I soaked up the techniques, but more than that I knew it would expand my own creativity as a practicing therapist. I also knew that I wanted to help a certain group of people who were having a confusing time by being ‘opened up’ by Spirit- perhaps too suddenly or unexpectedly and causing great mental turmoil. The majority of Psychiatrists steer their patients well away from any kind of so called Spiritual explanations for their distress, but there are a few enlightened individuals out there who now contact me with their patient’s permission, to see if my approach can help. This is where Hypnotherapy can really come into it’s own, a brilliant tool for releasing the root cause of many conditions.

Since I enjoy gardening, I liken the mind to a garden, full of flowers- potential, untapped resources and creativity, but it can also have many weeds too- stifling, undermining, destructive and negative. When I weed the garden I don’t just pull off the top part of the plant, yes, it may look as if it has gone, but in a few weeks that weed has usually returned twice as strong and vigorous. So it is with people and deep rooted problems. I always see it as a real challenge, one full of surprises and interest as you are certainly delving into the unknown. But some roots are much deeper than others and have their foundations in other measures of time, which we refer to as Past Lives. Time is a man made concept which is extremely convenient for our everyday life, but our perception of it can also be constricting in our beliefs, ourselves and our relationship with the Universe as a whole. There are so many different concepts of ‘time’ and our logical mind finds it easier and more expedient to go with the norm, it is essential for our safety and ultimate survival. However when we do have the opportunity for some deep thinking we may realize that not all is as cut and dried as we have been led to believe. This is where Hypnotherapy can help. Let us take the case of a phobia, for example I shall use my own, or at least one I used to have. For years I had recurring dreams of going up and down enclosed stone steps, and somewhere in the dream there always seemed to be a step missing and I was confronted with the problem of bridging that gap or face falling into a yawning chasm. I always seemed to wake at this point, feeling very disturbed and panicky. I had also developed a great fear of being near parapets at the top of high buildings and my experiences of mountains was beyond description, although my family found it highly amusing at the time- well I suppose they would considering I had adopted the fetal position on the floor of the car and pleading with the driver to drive so slowly when ascending or descending mountains and trying to maintain some sort of dignity! I also knew none of these situations had their origins in this life, so I decided to use one of the Hypnotherapy sessions to disclose where this unreasonable fear had sprung from.

I regressed back to Medieval France, circa 13 Century. I found myself in the Pyrenees, S.W.France in an area known as the Languedoc. As my life unfolded I had a very comprehensive overview of that existence and as I was ‘moved forward’ to the most significant day in that life finally I was able to understand my fears that seemed to have surfaced in this life.

In the 13 century I found myself to be a twenty seven year old woman living the life of a Cathar (a religious group) in a citadel on the summit of a mountain. I was living an ordinary, if somewhat fearful, life until the day we were invaded by ‘soldiers of the Pope’. I tried to hide beneath a parapet but I was discovered and roughly pulled up and thrown on my back on the top part of the parapet. I could see all the mountain range opposite turn upside down. Then I got angry and gripped the edge of the parapet and tried to kick the soldier. He seemed very surprised and dropped me in a heap on the floor, but we maintained intense eye contact. Then came the realization he was not going to kill me, instead I saw another emotion in those eyes, he then just rammed his sword into a loose fold of my tunic to make it look like he had killed me. The soldier is my husband in my present life.

Once I started to analyse this regression session I understood what was going on. When I looked back I realized all three fears had started round about the age of seventeen, that was the age when I first met my husband. He is a Dutch Catholic whereas I am an English Protestant. Fortunately, in this life, we have had a very interesting, compatible and loving thirty four year marriage to date. I also realized that those fears belonged in another time and place and had no further relevance to my present life, they were just a residue of our origin meeting. So the next step was to test if the Regression Therapy had worked, although I had to wait for the right opportunity and the first one came about last Christmas. As a surprise, my husband had organized that we spend the Festive Season in Austria, I didn’t have a clue until we went to the check-in for Salzburg. I felt a real pang of disappointment as I quietly dreaded the thought of snow and mountains, however I am proud to say that I went up and down on the Millenium ski-lift called Icarus, which was 1.5 miles high and I stood on the top of the mountain thoroughly enjoying the beautiful scenery. I got quite hooked on this and went up several times.

Three weeks ago, I decided it was time to test all three fears to the full, and I was really eager to find my citadel in S.W.France, so we headed for Languedoc. Yes, I did find the place in my regression and it requires a strenuous climb up the sheer rock face to access the Chateau- incidently also referred to as a ‘citadel’- I did this climb entirely by myself and not once did I feel anything but exhilaration at the joy of achievement. I walked the stone steps in round towers and I stood on top of high Keeps with only a foot high parapet between me and my Maker.

I visited about six Chateaux in this castle rich part of the country and usually I had the place to myself so I was able to dowse and take my photographs in peace and to really soak up the atmosphere of each building. All the castles had quite a heavy turbulent feel about them, apart from one- This was the Chateau D’Arques. Once again I had the entire building of this castle to myself, it had recently undergone a lot of sympathetic renovation work and was the one Chateau that didn’t require a strenuous climb to reach it. As soon as I entered, I registered that the castle had adifferent kind of feel to it and at first I put it down to the amount of restoration that had been done. There were three floors reached by a very confining enclosed stone stair well and each floor had a very different atmosphere. However it was on the middle floor that I felt a sense of happiness and as I started to dowse the rods began swinging wildly and were picking up a lot of residual energy. Usually after I had completed dowsing I took photographs of where there had been most movement from the rods and this was no exeption. So I was not surprised to see that the one and only Spirit energy photograph out of the five reels of film just happened to be the one photograph I took on this particular floor of the castle.

Once again the analytical mind swung into action and I wondered why I should only obtain one Spirit energy photograph when I had taken so many of other equally active places- afterall I had dowsed in every castle and the rods had picked up a lot of residual energy in each and every one of them. For comparison I took out the four photographs I had taken the previous year on the Cherokee Indian Reservation and sat looking at them for quite some time . Then the penny dropped, I realized that on both occasions I was feeling extremely happy and had a lovely sense of peace and upliftment. I came to the conclusion that they were happy Spirits in both cases!
The American experience opened up another interesting and important aspect of Hypnotherapy- that of being able to transfer knowledge already gained from a Past Life to the Present Life. In this Regression- which incidentally was my last earthly existence previous to this one- I was taken to a life two hundred years ago living with the Cherokee in S.E.America in a location known as the Great Smokey Mountains. In that life I was a male of Anglo-French origin. I had seen my entire family wiped out by a natural disaster- I was ten at the time- and came to be ‘adopted’ by a small community belonging to the Cherokee Nation. Apparently I had the ‘gift’ and was trained to be a Medicine Man. I gained a great deal of knowledge especially in the use of crystals and plants for healing, and once unlocked that knowledge became mine to use in this lifetime. I am able to do this because I kept a link open with that particular past personality and I am often shown a memory as a practical aid for healing now and on more that one occasion it has been invaluable for the recipient of healing. Another interesting fact emerged from my Regression sessions, I found that in quite a few lives I was connected with healing in one way or another and also many people who are present in my life now, were with me in other lives too.

The true value of a Regression session comes with the understanding of why we go through certain experiences and quite possibly why we keep making the same mistakes and how we can finally resolve them. Sometimes we just have to be persuaded to let go of a ‘habit’ or a way of thinking because it no longer serves a purpose and what better way to do this than realize that we have done it all before and to go on repeating something stops us progressing and getting on with other challenges. To keep repeating situations eventually gets very monotonous and then the information from a Past Life can act like a mental laxative and help the mind become clearer and less conjested, but also helps us to understand why certain situations and relationships are like they are and it also helps us become aware of our options and often this can facilitate an opportunity for positive change.

There is also another side to Regression Therapy and this is to do with the question of Release. By Release I mean to be able to forgive and be forgiven, as sometimes we find ourselves in quite seemingly unresolvable conflicts in certain relationships. To illustrate this point I will take the case of a woman in her early fifties who was attacked by a man – a total stranger- when she was nine years old, this left her physically undamaged but mentally scarred and unable to forget her assailant’s face in every detail. About three years ago she was driving along quite happy when suddenly she was confronted with an image of the man’s face on her front windowscreen. She pulled off the road and had the strong feeling that the man had recently died, but still his face could haunt her and rake up her nine year old memory with all it’s terrifying feelings. During a Hypnotherapy session she regressed to another life where she recognized the same man who had brutally killed her in that life too. This time she was encouraged to ask her aggressor why he had done such a thing, she was then asked to transfer into the perpetrator’s personality and give the reply. At first she did not want to do this but with encouragement and knowing she had the full support of the hypnotherapist she went ahead and there amerged a conversation going on between the two personalities which culminated in a plea for forgiveness by the perpetrator and finality for the situation in that Past Life and also in the Present. The outcome of the session was very successful in that the woman had been able to release her fears and had the knowledge that the man no longer had the capacity to harm her again. The nine year old child was able to heal and integrate wholly into the adult and had no further need to hold onto or block the bad memory. She was able to report that she felt a great weight had lifted from her mind and that she felt a great sense of completion and peace within herself and it also made for a more comprehensive understanding of other people closely related to her who had also participated in that previous existence.

Once we have the full picture then it is up to us if we want to move on both Spiritually and psychologically, but to do this we have to be fully aware of everything that has gone before whether in a Past Life or this Present Life, as it will affect our future.

Hypnotherapy can unlock the doors to many different aspects of our minds, it can allow us to fully comprehend the positive power of our own Spirit. The psyche is full of huge potential, it can be encouraged to do so much that is positive for our well being. As a healer, I also occasionally use Hypnotherapy in conjunction with healing when I feel my client needs physical proof of what is happening during a healing session. The majority of my clients ask about or remark on various sensations they experience whilst receiving healing, they can actually feel the positive energy working in the body. However there are a small minority who feel absolutely nothing and one such client came to see me every two weeks for healing for bladder cancer. I saw him from the onset of his condition, through an operation and chemotherapy through to the final ‘all clear’, yet everytime he remarked that he felt absolutely nothing after his healing session except very peaceful. I couldn’t understand it because I knew exactly what sort of healing energy was being channeled through me into the man, so on our final session, I suggested he might like to try Hypno-healing and he happily agreed. So I proceeded with a slow hypnotic induction with the suggestion that as soon as I placed my hands on his back, he would start to draw in the healing energy from them. I continued silently to give contact healing and when completed I brought him out of the hypnotic state. When he was fully back within himself, his first words were’Well, now I have FELT how much healing energy I have received, that was truly amazing!’ Two years further on, this person is free of cancer, due to the skill of the surgeon, Spiritual healing and a taste of Hypnotherapy.

As I look at the photographs I also see so much future potential for Hypnotherapy as a means of accessing not only the sub-conscious but also the Spirit. After all the Spirit is eternal and holds all the knowledge of our Past, Present and Future.

As a final footnote, I used a different camera for the American photographs than I did for the French photograph, and no it is not ‘camera strap’!!!!
