Support for Students
We are here to serve you and our tutors and assistants are
approachable and available for your support.
The
social
aspect of the course, with an emphasis on mutual support among
students, is encouraged. We aim to teach how to be human as
well as professional because therapy is about creating rapport,
trust and empathy between human beings.
Study Groups
The courses are supplemented by weekly or fortnightly study groups
where students can practise new skills and techniques and receive
guidance and support.
Peer Supervision Groups
These
are available for those
studying at an advanced level by private arrangement with tutors,
assistants and practising SACH therapists.
Personal Therapy
Students,
as future practitioners, are expected to be mentally and
emotionally fit to help others.
Due to the sensitive material
that will be handled during the course, it is inevitable that
one’s own issues will surface. These issues will be worked
with during the course, but as the course is not regarded as
therapy, students will be required to work with these issues
outside of the course hours as necessary. If students feel
they need to refer to therapy at any point within the course,
a list of recommended and competent therapists,
trained by the School, can be provided. Ongoing therapy is
not a requirement
of the courses, but it
is expected as part of their membership requirements for
some professional bodies.
Therapy is not necessarily about 'fixing problems' - it is
a valuable tool for personal development.
e-group
There is a lively and informative e-group available to all
students where you can seek advice and post your own contributions.
The archive is searchable by topic and provides a valuable
resource for students and practising therapists alike.
